It was the first Kwanzaa Day and Kayla was sad. Her big brother Khari couldn’t come home for the festival because the roads around his school were closed due to a snowstorm. Kayla always missed Khari when he was away, but this time it was even worse. Now they had to start Kwanzaa without him. Kwanzaa was Kayla’s favorite week of the entire year. She loved celebrating her African heritage and doing special things with her family.
