I am water. I have a soul. I have feelings.

Autumn Peltier, Water Fighter, written by New York Times bestselling author Carole Lindstrom and illustrated by Bridget George, is an inspiring picture book biography of two Indigenous rights activists, Josephine Mandamin and Autumn Peltier.

Told emotionally and inspiringly, “Water Fighters” invites young readers to become part of a movement that can change the world. A celebration of the unwavering power of human will and the beauty of nature, this book will inspire you to advocate for the preservation of precious water and the rights of indigenous peoples.

In our culture, we view water as a living being and are taught to treat it with the same respect we would treat a human being.
